Well I am doing a full frame resto on my 185, which I thought was an 83 model, well turns out it has an 83 frame, gas tank, etc. but turns out the carb is off of something else. I ordered a new 26 dollar slide for an 83 with a spring, and "it" comes in today with a return spring that is about an inch too long, and the slide has a different # on the bottom of it. Not to mention that my brand spankin new cobra silencer has a bent tip on it. All in all, not a good wheeler day. I did get the back end put together (even painted the boltheads and clips) with success. One thing is for sure and that is that I am getting into the restoration but not if I keep getting wrong parts. Anyone else have any mismatched parts stories. Just needed to vent a little. Kaysen

We ALL have those stories - mismatched parts, wrong year and what years interchange?? - they are all common problems. Use this site the best way you can, ask lots of questions, take pictures and describe parts as well as you can . Sooner or later someone will help identify the strangest of the strange!
