I've decided not to put a light on the '85 I'm building (mostly because of the insane $ nice headlights are bringing). Actually I'm going for a racer look anyways, being as I'm already running race-cut fenders. What are you guys doing for front number plates?
Just wanting to see what options are avail for the '85, and '86 models.
Thanks

if you are going for period correct you cant go wrong with a Preston Petty number plate

223504 223505 223506 223507

takes a little effort to run down the numbers, both Petty and Maier plastic numbers fit and look exactly the same

Think about the history, many awesome riders ran those.

I just like that they are made to last, not a thin mesh bolted to a plastic frame like the UFO design and it at least lets some air past unlike a solid number plate. One reason for development of the CT airfoil was because at top speed on a long straight the solid number plates add a noticeable amount of resistance, try going down the freeway at 80mph and hold a solid number plate out the passenger window.

I got mine for $100 on ebay, it was still in its original packing so that added to the cost a bit. The numbers cost $10 each.
