Randy, although I have several stock 70's, don't know what parts interchange with them. Have collected bits and pieces (frame, '83 110 CDI motor) to build a camp bike, exactly what years, model Honda axle are you using? Are you using the stock sprocket hub, carrier, and brake assemblies? Any other special machining?

Hi HJ.... my 70 is the '84 and put the Chinese 125 manual shift 4speed! the chassis I put a 3'' spacer tube in for the xl-70 gas tank! the front end is stock but I'm using a 200x front hub cut down to use a 8x6 wheel with a 16x7-8 tire . I made the rear axle grow to a +6'' over the stock one I'll post a picture in a min.!

Looking good Randy.....understand machining axle hub stop bosses to fit the sleeve material and know you wouldn't cut on an expensive aftermarket axle, so again what axle did you use or did you cut and weld to fab a +6 ? Hubs look like 4 on 130 bolt pattern.

I used the stock '84 atc70 axle and put the '88 atv 200sx axle stubs and hubs on it !! 4 on 110 but I had to cut the diameter down on the hubs to fit inside the 200x wheels !!!

Thanks for the explanation, now all I need is a good welder and a lathe. After I retired the plant closed down eliminating all my access to complete projects, damm the bad luck. Don't know why Honda made the center section of the 200x so small. Had to machine my 350x hubs back in 85 to use the mounted paddle tires I had from my '83 200x.

Looks like a mean little fatass.

Don't you love machining? I absolutely love the hell out of my trade. I used to be so disappointed for not finishing college but construction trades and machining/welding apprenticeships have served me far more than a veterinary degree. I make half what I would have but I REALLY love what I do and there ain't much I can't fix/ build/ adapt/ or create thanks to alot of training and a willingness to learn. I'm sure you get what I'm saying.

You do nice work, Ol Duece!

I can see it now. WTF I turned the wheel in the corner. It it still went straight!!
LOL. Sorry but it is kinda funny. You gotta be careful. Too wide and you end up in the weeds due to lack or turning ability. Test it before you race it. I am willing to bet you end up going to a +3 to +4 due to turning.

It is a great build sir and I definitely look forward to first ride reports!!

This has passed my mind only because it's so tiny ! my first thought was on the front tire ! not having the grip to help in the turn ! TWT:crazy:trailprotrailprotrailpro Tehehe
I do like ride reports ! if these rear tires are to fat not all is lost cauze the HPACT 185/200 needs boots also !!:wondering

You won't have any problems turning your trike. I have a +2 frame and +4 rear running 18x9.5-8 rear tires and it turns great. Very stable and so fun and easy to slide with the 150cc engine. I prefer the handeling to my other 70 with stock specs, especially at higher speeds. :beer

I got them off ebay years ago,, they are 16 x 7.50 -8 I told several people about them,, several bought and the seller took everyones money and sent no tires,, I was pissed to say the least,,,, I have not ever seen anymore of them either .......

I know those tires!! go to northern tool. they have them there, they are lawnmower tires! we looked at them a few years ago when we were running the Chinese 70cc motors for my son's racing to see if they would help with his sliding in corners due to the 70 just not having the balls of torque. we were running double the HP of a stock 70 but still on a MX track against 50CC 2-strokes, not gonna happen... :(

Thanks Casey for the info, I was worried about front tire push. we ran into that with our Chinese 70. the rear stuck out 2" wider than the fronts and it shoved the nose into the corners. we ended up having to run spacers on the front and rear just to get them to both be wider and match.
