I looked at the schematics and read the manual. Still not sure of my solution. It appears that I can remove the seal without the axle coming out. Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the left outer dust seal on the final drive without removing the axle first? My situation is that the drum is rusted onto my axle badly so removing it may not be an option without inflicting major carnage. The manual shows a bit of a shoulder on the axle; that worries me. Is the shoulder on the iside of the seal, or does the seal ride on it? If I had a spare drum I wouldn't be worried LOL, grinderrrrrrrrrrrr! Thanks in advance for any options/solutions.

I think the seal rides on that shoulder, and the shoulder is was goes up against the ring gear. I rebuilt one last summer, but I'm not 100% sure how it goes.

Ok I got my answer. I removed the seal easily without removing anything. Now to deal with my stuck hub:-(

I let it soak overnight with the trike on it's side. I hit the backside of the hub a little with a 4lb sldege once or twice and I can see light around the axle now. I'll let it sit a day or two more and go at it again. BTW the seal is discontinued so I got one off eBay. Ouch!

All-Balls makes a diff bearing and seal kit that comes with that seal, but it's about $100. I think they make just the diff seal kit as well tho.

I think I paid around $30 for NOS which isn't too outrageous. Seen that kit also. That was plan B.
