In the process of building up my 185s. I've already hopped the motor up with xr200 cam and 10.25:1 200cc piston and 200cc jug of course. And I'm also doing the 83-84 250r fork swap on the front with the help of Ol Deuce's adapter, so I can have disc brakes. What I want to know is will a 81-82 250r rear disc brake carrier fit on my 185s axle. I saw on another thread where one person said he used to do that in conjunction with a mech brake caliper. If none know can anybody give me the spline count and axle diameter off a 81-82 250r. Also if anyone knows a better way of doing this please chime in.

The 83-85 200X disc/brake hub slides right on the 185s axle. I dont think the 250R one would?-IDK...
I put rear disc brakes on my 185s a couple yrs ago thats what I used. I really was tired of crappy drum brakes(-& I love wheelies so it was a necessity) -It came out pretty good. I just did it on my own-found a way to make it work. Wish I had pictures -but dont.
I used a Banshee/Raptor 660 rear caliper with a LEFT-hand handbrake/master cyl. from a chinese bike. NO cable. Footbrake was more complicated so I didnt bother-(I used a LEFT hand brake so it would not be on same side as throttle-made for better wheelie control)) .Basically I eliminated the outer drum housing (& drum) & notched out the inner drum housing to fit/mount/fab in the caliper to the inner housing. Some extra spacing was necessary on the 2 large axle nuts. Worked rather well. I sold that bike unfortunately.

Thank you 3wheelrider. That'll help a lot. Did you use the stock banshee caliper bracket and make it work or did you custom fab a bracket and make that work? And I'm assuming just use a generic banjo hydraulic brake line?

Yes-stock caliper & bracket. It did take some creativity/slight fabwork to mount up to the inner drum housing(.after notching out a spot for.it). Nothing special about banjo/brakelne. they bolted up.no problem.

Oh and the x hub still works with the axle jam nuts, and the stock bearing seal right?

^^yes -stock 185 axle jam nuts/seal-
If it helps: I had an extra set (2) that I lightly grinded out the inner threads & used them as spacers to make up the difference not having the drum on there no longer. (so a total of 4 axle jam nuts-2 of them used as spacers) used the thin washers too.

No prob..- oh -also,-the 200x wheel hubs will slide on your 185 axle to give you more width. You can use 83-85 or 86-87 200X wheel hubs. Its great mod for any 185/200.

Thanks, I already have 450r hubs on it. Widened it alot, much more stable, and it looks better too.
