So I bought this 1982 ATC 110 from an old man whom claims it was parked since 1989 in his barn. He bought it new for his son, unfortunately his son passed away in a car accident in 88'. He showed me pictures of the last time he used the bike, and it actually sounds legit. Who doesn't believe a ~60 year old man? None the less sad story over.

I paid 75$, yes, 75$, for the bike. Haven't even tried to start it yet just taking it apart for a tune up. I am not familiar with these small side ways engines, could anybody give me tips of preparing it so when I pull the crank it starts right up? Things i've done so far :

- Changed wheel bearings
- New spark plug
- Cleaned out the points, didn't check if it fires yet
- Poored some boiling 2t oil in the cylinder to loosen up those rings
- Cleaning carb, main jet is blocked so I'll just get another one
- Going to change oil, but the drain plug is on top of the cylinder??
- New chain, sprockets look brand new!!
- Greased steering stem
- Other little things here and there.

Any other tips out there from you guys? Thanks!! Will post pics later tonight after work!

I'd get a manual and adjust the valves too.
I'd also lube all the cables and the brake cam just to avoid future problems. An acetone soak works wonders on clogged jets.

Sounds like a good deal we need pics!:pics:
The oil drain plug is under the transmission, a 12mm bolt with a washer.

Are you saying the piston is seized? Seems funny that it should be locked up just from sitting in a barn? Maybe I'm wrong. Did you put it in gear and try bumping it to roll the engine over? You'll get more rotational force on the motor than the pull start will give you. Sounds like a great score just the same. Post up some pics. Diesel fuel works good for loosening things up too. If you haven't figure it out yet, that thing should stand right up on its end. That would help your fluid get all around your piston. Your air cleaner foam will probably be rotten. Pinch it and see if it breaks apart. What part of Canada you in?

The engine is not seized, I always put oil in the cylinder incase they decided to stick plus it frees up some moving parts - At least thats what I was taught to do all my life. And i'm from Northern Ontario, the cochrane district. I'll post pics at 5-6PM EST tonight.
