Looking for a bend that is close to the stock bend, I used to run a dean sundahl bend, but I have no idea what the specs were.
Any suggestions?

putting these on my Rotax if i cant rehab the finish on my Sundahl Answer bars

they will be a bit taller than the stock 86 Tecate bend but those where to low in my opinion so that is a good thing

i can measure my Sundahl bars for you if that would help

I can't help on the stock dimensions.

Here are a bunch of ATV Renthal bar measurements- (Many are half off)

I put Honda CR HI bars on everything- (It makes it easier to swap between trikes/bikes)

I like the 7/8" Renthal bars for the old vintage look, for fat bars I use Pro-Taper.

I always preferred CR High bend Renthals.

If you could measure the sundahl bars that would be great!
Yeah, the stock ones are too low. I read somewhere that Jimmy swapped to the 85 kxt bars on his 86.

ok give me a bit cause i have the front hub and brake system off and covering my bench, ill look up a handlebar chart to use as a baseline but measuring the back sweep is gonna be tricky i think

Ok this should get you in the ball park.

Clamp - 6 1/2

Rise - 3

Height - 4

Width - 31

Sweep - 3 1/2

Control Length - 8 1/4

Some photos below for visual reference, these are stock, uncut length.

almost like the CR high bend other than the sweep but the 2006 YFZ450 dirtbike is closer other than clamp area but only $40.

Keep in mind, in the modern Era less sweep equals less arm pump.

phantomraver, there are obviously other riders besides Jimmy, and I don't know if he ran the stock bars or not, however, they were fine for me and all the other people in R and D that took it for a ride, so those are the ones I kept for production . . If I was going to sit up more in a recreational, cruise mode position [like one would do on an ATC250R because that's what they were best at doing], or stand more on the bike, then I would prefer slightly taller bars by maybe 3/4", however, that is not what the bike was designed for which is why it got the lower bars.

phantom racer, if you are going to ride the bike, I can tell you that the bars will vibrate a little more if they have a crossbar . . if the vibration is too much, you can dampen it by installing 4" inch long solid steel slugs which is what we did on one of the KLT models because of excessive vibration, or you can simply fill them with lead shot, or install aftermarket bar dampers . . there's a few different types . . below is one of the better ones . . bar vibration contributes to forearm and hand fatigue.

i only run pro taper aluminum black bars on my toys. The ATV bend is higher with more pull back. On most dirt bikes and last few 3wheelers I like adding a extra triple clamp bar mound under the stock on provided with 4 longer screws and running CR HI bend bars but cutting them down 1 inch per side.

When I get back to building my 86 Tecate I'm going to use the 85 bars:

All really good info.
I'll post what I find as the closest.
