Yeah it was expensive.
$325
Problem is you can't replate an old one due to the electronics.

I restore old muscle cars like MUstangs, Camaros and Mopars etc, so if you need parts for those let me know because I know a lot of sources.

As far as vintage bike parts go, you can get many NOS parts parts from these two sites.

Barnett, I just placed an order with cmsnl a few days ago. The order is sitting in pending status. When I ordered the site said it was in stock, but now I am wondering what is taking so long. Have you had many orders from them that went cancelled?

John, have you tried Tony Murphy? He is the only guy I've ever had to deal with for Rotax engine parts, and my Can'd ham 125 ate a few pistons before I got it jetted right.

Yeah, most of the sites are all the same software, or they do not show real inventory. Rocky my/atv has a real time inventory but they don't have the hard to find stuff.
Seems like eBay is the king.
I found the igniter sitting on a dealers shelf, I ordered it from a random site and the person emailed me back telling me the part was no longer available, but he did a parts locator and xyz dealer had the part. So I guess if you have someone at the dealer that is willing to research parts they can check other dealers inventory. I'm just guessing that is how it works based on my experience.

Sure you can…it’s called spray paint, lol . . There are several single stage paints that will look half way decent and Eastwood has a fancy 3 stage spray can process for $54.00 that looks pretty darn close, and by the time you get the sticker on it, and mount it, no one will know unless you tell them.

I would also get some matte or semi gloss clear Verathane lacquer for home depot etc and spray that over it to protect it.

The decal could could also be made.

i have found the gearshift i was looking for so now i am hunting for the correct Can Am kickstarter because the one i have hits my frame

i need the swept forward style like we had on our 190

218912

the type that it came with hits the frame (you can see we had to grind it down) and it bugs me

The cmnsl guys might do a physical search if you email or cal them . . i know for a fact that extremeusa will do a physical search and get back to you in 2 oe 3 days because their NOS warehouse is a few miles away from their store.

if i remember correctly, cmnsl updates their site 4 times a year and extreme does it around twice a year so cmnsl usually has what their site says they do and i know many people that get stuff there but am unaware of any whose orders got cancelled so i would say the odds are in your favor that they have the parts because the atv stuff moves slowly there . . their nos bike parts move much quicker.

many of the other online sites are simply selling the parts that both these real shops carry.

Lol, I've used that spray system on my 71 corvette. The vacume canisters for the headlights. It did come out nice.
For this tecate I feel like that would be cheating, so I couldnt bring myself to do that. I did get a nice close up shot of the sticker if anyone wants to reproduce it.

Blue27 would be a great place to start looking for reproduction decals.

Nothing that fancy, a 71 convertible with a/c, p/s, p/b, I put a worked zz3 crate motor in it.
380hp/ 412lb/ft
Great motor, sold the car when I needed to buy a house.
Did a body off restoration on it.

Try these guys-

http://www.rtrmoto.com/

If they don't have it they maybe able to give you leads.

Keep in mind, you don't need Can-Am parts, you need ROTAX parts.

@onformula1 - Thank you for the links, rtrmoto is who i am getting my gear shift from and i emailed classiccanam and americandirtbike already about the kickstarter.

I am pretty sure the kickstarter i need is a Can Am part and not a Rotax as all the Rotax kickstarters i have come across are like the one my bike already has and only the qualifier and ASE model Can-Am bikes seem to come with the swept forward style that would clear my frame correctly.

The MT 350 Military dirt bike uses a Rotax engine but the kick start lever is black on those so that is only a last option but at least they are still in stock (in Europe).

This guy offers a lot of parts for the Rotax as well.
Front page does show a kick start assembly like
you need, but I think he's had a hard time keeping them in
stock. Rotax kickers are a hot item, even used ones move quick.

@HondaHarry - Yeah that is the exact kickstart lever i need, it seems Rotax still makes them its just a major hassle (and cost) trying to buy from them direct. Gonna email him and see if he will put me on a list in case he gets more in stock.

Thank you for the link.

I'm drooling, that and a shock are the last pieces keeping me from finishing my build, I did a dealer search on them and came up with a place in New York, called them many times but no answer, did that come out of New York?

phantomtracer
07-27-2015, 12:55 AM
I purchase it from Fox Kawasaki in NC
I got lucky when I purchased the rear shock off eBay.
The person listed it as a 85 kxt shock, but as I looked at the adjusters I could tell it was from an 86. I think it was listed for less than a minute.

Those are still avail from kawasaki, bought a set a couple months ago, do you have any NOS black side cover caps that go over the swing arm pivot bolt?

I had been looking for a Hi-Point cross bar pad for a while now with no luck and i figured this would go well with the Petty number plate and how the top of the Petty number plate wraps around the cross bar pad. On a thin cross bar pad the Petty number plate kinks and ends up with a crease in it.

221181

Should go well enough with the black bars and black Magura controls.

@onformula1 - Shock got sent off today so you should see it middle of next week.

No, they are just over sized. I think its so you could fit three of their 8 inch plastic bolt on numbers onto one. It is what we used for a long time on our bikes and i was stoked to find a NOS one still in the wrapping because it was one of the things that vanished off my Rotax over the years (likely put on some dirty quadracer, dang things).

221182 221183 221184

scored some new 250r axle nuts today, the ones off the Rotax had rounded edges and almost spun the socket when i first took it apart.
