Aight, so, this is going to be a thread on my project of updating my brakes on my 84 200X. I'll show pictures as I go, get some info on my build, and try my best to share it. And hopefully any experimentation I do, if it works, I can share it with all ya'll guys.

So, heres the questions I need answered.
1. What's a clutch perch that will fit on the 200x? If I recall correctly, its a KX 450F perch that will work with it.
2. Would anyone know If I can switch up the brake perch but still keep the cage that goes around the brake fluid holder thingy? I'd like to retain that.
3. If I switch up brake calipers, like I intend to with both the front and the back. Will the KX 85 caliper still work with my stock brake line?

I'm going to go hopefully tomorrow or Thursday to a shop and pick me up the CR 80 front caliper to slap on the rear or end up just ordering one off of ebay somewhere. After I get the rear brakes on and working, I intend to go and put the perches on, then possibly change up the front.

After the brakes, and rebuilding the carb this weekend, I'll probably work on grinding the foot-peg teeth some to get some bite. Apparently, they arent available anymore and theres no aftermarket pegs. Work on making something to stop my foot from sliding off the pegs, something like what ironchop had on his 200x. And a grab bar would be nice with some new fenders lol. Trying to get this thing truly trail ready again.

Heres the pictures of the perches. Thanks for the info

If you change the front brake master you will likely need to modify the guard.

If you want to I prove the effectiveness of the brakes you can also install steel braided lines and good pads like the ebc sintered metallic ATV pads . . don't get the extended life ones.

Silicone brake fluid reduces brake effectiveness and has a spongy feel due to its high compressibility compared to non silicone brake fluids . . the hotter it gets the more compressible it becomes . . it also expands so it needs some air space in the master

Changing masters and calipers with different size ones will change the brake performance and pedal and lever travel.

read the whole thread. Lots of good info in there.

as for your stock front MC, I think there are new Chinese repops on Fleebay for $80 or so.

I used one off a XR250. I`m not sure if you can still use the guard with any other model but 200x but someone else here would know for sure

Someone here was building nice pegs for the 350x. . . if yours mount the same you could by some of them or make an adapter bra jet if need be.

I use the same clutch perch and lever on all my Hondas except my '06 599, and I stock one extra at all times in the event of a spill/broken lever, and I can always borrow one off another bike. I buy cheaper ones too, so If they break I don't feel bad, and can replace them when they get worn without breaking the bank.

Parts Unlimited p/n 45-1022 is an OEM Honda style split perch, listed as for "most CR's 73-85", cost $7
Parts Unlimited p/n 44-110 is the matching "power lever" (dogleg shape), cost $5
and if you prefer the early non-power lever (I call it a banana lever LOL) get p/n 44-102 instead

And yes, the original hoses work with the KX & CR caliper swaps, although I used the KX rear hose on the rear of my 200X because it was in nicer shape.

typically I like to use the TRX450R clutch lever and perch assembly along with the TRX450R master. they bolt onto the 200X and work great! plus the newer TRX450R stuff has a metal reservoir for the master so no more plastic issues.

Now, are you talking about the rear or front MC + reservoir?

Oh, that is high lol. It's worth it. those will probably be next weeks buy. Still, thats friggin high. But you get what you pay for to. They keep your foot on the pegs and I'm sure they aint breaking anytime soon. thanks for the link bud.

I use YZ85 master cylinders with ASV lever and ASV clutch perch & lever. I use them on all my bike but ATV's since the YZ85 master cylinder is to small to push 2 calipers. I like the short levers on toys not the long HONDA ones.
