Well it's up on it's wheels, but I would have never got it put together at Trike Fest. These things have more parts then my quads! lol

Mickey in that rear shock rebuildable?

I have never had one in my hands to see, the manual says no.

I don't think it is a stock shock. It looks different than mine. You know like clean and not as rusty...;)

That engine looks NEW! Did you buy all 100% new parts to build that thing?! Amazing work!

When I first saw the pics, I was that isn't no big red, it looks like some sport 3 wheeler but on 2nd look there was the shaft drive!

Gah I need to get a sand blaster and the tools to power coat. Of course building the garage would need to come first -_-.

They come with electric start, the kick starter is a back up.

No you can't rebuild it, but you can take it apart.

I bought new parts where I could, hand grips, fork boots wheels and tires ect. But it's been gone though bolt by bolt, polished in a tumbler, then sent off to be zinc plated.

That's the thing about powder coating and zinc plating everything, it cleans up nice. Even Mudzilla would come clean, but I sprayed it down with Pam cooking oil, then just sprayed it off with simple green, and it was like new again.

What's the purpose of the pam? I'm interested

Pam is an anti stick for your pans.... well it works on atvs too for mud lol. It is more or less an oil layer so the dirt/mud sticks to that, but not the actual metal/plastic parts so it washes off a lot easier. Never tried it myself, but read a few times people having good luck with it working well.

Next up, Mickey builds a diesel powered big red to run on bio diesel because it smells like fries frying when it runs. Just add pam and it will be butter flavor!

Well it looks a little more like a Big Red today, I couldn't believe how many people didn't know what it was yesterday. LOL Even got the oil cooler mounted and plumbed in.

Installing the oil cooler seems pretty textbook. Did you use the stock banjo bolts? Did you need to increase the oil capacity at all?

Yes I used the stock banjo and drilled them out. Then I just pump oil into the top hoes until it filled up the cooler and oil filter area so it has oil to the cam as soon as it fires.

Thank you very much for the link....what process do you finish your parts in? I have a couple axles I want plated and not sure which is the best choice?

They call it clear, but I have done some bolts on a V-Force motor in yellow (gold to me).

It is done, or close to it, just a few little things to do. First little test ride and what I can say for sure, it's faster then it looks. I was impressed, I pretty sure I doubled the rear wheel HP!

You're welcome. I also LOVE the modeled powder coating on the racks and tow hitch. Makes the red pop and adds so much needed definition! I'm anxious to see the new 502X!

Wow is all I can say on this build! I'm impressed. Any way a 502 kit could be used on one of these with a trx350 crank? (With a custom cam and turning crank down to the stock flywheel size)

The little bit I rode it, I think that's as fast as I want to go on a Big Red. I'm thinking I'm going to put a manual clutch on it so I can shift faster, it comes up in the first 3 gears and will come up in 4th but I think the clutch slipped a bit so I'm going to need stronger springs.

TheRealFatShady
07-16-2015, 10:59 PM
I can only imagine how it drives! I'd imagine a gear reduction would be needed with much more power, or like you said stronger clutch springs. I'm not sure if the trx300 clutch would work but it has more contact area. I think some guys use the 300ex plates with it (but not springs). A manual conversion would be amazing!

Very nice! But I believe you misspelled "Tripledog's 350ES" on the sidecover decals.

I haven't even got it 5th gear yet, but it's faster then I should be going I know that.

They are in stock, I just need to get some dyno numbers on it. It was getting more attention this weekend at the races them my Team Honda 200x. Sold a few hits after letting some people ride it this weekend. lol
