Hey everybody, Iong time listener, first time caller...
My name's Connor, and I'm building me a 250sx. I've posted a few pictures on some of the fb pages so a few of you may have already seen it. Basically I bought the sx a little over a month ago as a "good rider", went to change the oil and the po had stripped out the drain plug and put an insert in, only problem is he epoxied the plug into the insert and greased the insert where it threads into the case. I checked the oil filter as well and it was slap full of metal shavings, so this spawned my all out build. It's going to have 27's on the back, a 25 on the front with 350x forks. I'm just about done grafting my 250sx top end onto a fourtrax 300 bottom end, just have valve cover to put on. Hopefully I can get it in my frame tonight after work and work on getting all the harnesses and whatnot swapped and get it running this weekend. Oh, and my Ted Krans light bar shipped yesterday, so hopefully I get that in next week and can mount my Hella 500ff lights up.
Here's the only picture I have in my photobucket account right now, I'll upload some more later to get my post count up so I can start posting in the Trikefest subforum.

Got a set of 27x12x12 itp mudlites mounted up on a 12" set of itp wheels with 2-5 offset. Compared to the factory ~3.5" backspaced wheels these make it about 3" wider.

Successfully got the 300 fourtrax output shaft out and the 250sx output shaft in, but not before I pulled the threads off the crank taking the centrifugal clutch off because I didn't know it was reverse thread.

Fortunately I had a second 300 bottom end I could rob a crank from. I ordered it off eBay and it showed up poorly packaged with the bottom of both case halves cracked. Had to file a case with ebay to get seller to send me a second bottom end, good thing I stripped the crank in the second bottom end and had to split the cases because the peckerhead of an eBay seller dropped this and a couple washers in the "good" bottom end

The second 300 bottom end I got had a stripped out starter bolt, so I had to drill it out and put a Time-sert in. I highly recommend time-sert products!

Got cases back together and clutches on. Centrifigul got highlifter stiffer springs and secondary got new ebc plates. Also got the oil line bent to fit in the new 250 output shaft where it sticks through

Got top end back together with new rings, new timing chain, new gaskets, and new valve seals. You have to use the 300 piston because 300's use a 17mm wrist pin, 250's use a 19mm wrist pin. Another difference I didn't know was that 250's use a wider timing chain. So I got my 300 bottom and 300 timing chain, then went to time it and the chain wouldn't fit over the 250 cam sprocket. Had to order a 300 cam sprocket off eBay

While I was waiting for cam sprocket to come in another sx "somehow" followed me home. Has 200e forks on it and needed some motor work. It will be getting fixed and get the front end off my sx once I put the 350x front end on. Probably gonna bring it to Trikefest to sell/barter

Quick mock up of the 350x forks I got. It has a 25x8x11 front tire on factory 350x wheel. Got new bearings and seals in front hub.

Roommate is working on the beater 250sx for me since he's waiting for his 70. I drained the oil in the 350x forks, flushed them out, then refilled them with atf. Got forks in frame with new grease in the headset, feels awesome now
