Just took carb apart to rebuild. When I checked the turns on the screw, it was only 3/4 turn out. I've only really worked on newer 4 stroke stuff, and wanted to make sure that this was correct. Looked at the service manual, and it only states that you turn it in 1/2 turn for elevation, but doesn't state what the factory setting is. Thanks.

I may be wrong, but I think it's 1-1/4 turn out to 1-1/2. Adjust from there.

I didn't think that 3/4 was enough, but most I've messed with are at least 2 turns. I found another thread last night that mentioned he had it 2 1/4 out.

2 turns out for 85 SX

Much appreciated. After not being run in over 10 years. Rebuild the carb, tossed a new plug in her, checked the oil. Started up first kick. Thanks for the help.

If I am remembering correctly, that is actually a fuel regulating screw on the SX. It's between the slide and the engine, correct?

That is correct Red.

So that being said, turning it in will reduce fuel, leaning the idle mixture and turning it out will increase fuel, enriching idle mixture
