86 350x motor!!! maybe NOS looks to be cut from frame, maybe from the 87 ban!!!

Well I found this on craigslist within the first 30 minutes of it being posted. Emailed him my number and told him I was interested. Met him the next day at his earliest convenience and scored this beautiful motor. I was told that he bought 2 motors at a High school sale. His dad possibly has the other still. He said he was going to put it in a go cart or dirt bike but never got around to it. Anyway its a pretty cool piece of history if it was from the '87 3 wheeler ban. I bought it for a back up motor for my '85 350x, but is almost a shame to put it in something and loose a piece of history. So I don't really know how rare these are but pretty sure they are very rare being I hound ebay all the time and never see any like this for sale. What is the value of these approximately if I were to sell it? If I keep it what kind of work needs to be done to it to clean out all the old oil and it seems kind of hard to turn over but don't want to try until I know I wont hurt anything. Any information would be appreciated on motors like these. Thanks and enjoy the pics!!!

It's an '86 engine and definately a takeout engine. I'm notup to date on their value, but I would say 900-1300 maybe more????? To the right buyer. I believe Dirtcrasher on here has used at least one or more of these engines and had no problems with them as is.

I found this post they look to be close to the same thing ( http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/144245-May-of-hit-the-jack-pot!-NOS!-250r-and-350x-motors ). I seen one on ebay go for around 1200-1300 with a bunch of bids, and a couple hundred to ship if I recall rite, in the last 2 years sense I have had my '85 350x

I I paid 750$
Another 800$
Another 900$
Another 1100$ with carb and kicker and shock.
And 1 more which I forget what I paid for,

Both the 86 200X take out motors cost me under 850$ and I LET Seabass win another.

That makes 3 on Ebay I have seen in 15 years or better. 2 outta 3 ain't bad!! :)

So dirtcrasher, you have had 5 takeout/NOS 350x engines (only 1 had carb, kicker, and shock) and 2 takeout/NOS 86 200x engines. 2 of those you got off ebay in 15 years and you lost on one? What ones were on ebay? 2 outta 3 is awesome I'm real happy to have one!!!

he can have the carb setup I do not need it nor the electronics. All I need is the main motor and kicker.
everything else I have or am doing different.
I would like to retain the decomp cable as they are only $17 to replace so not much $ there.
