Need a rear master cylinder for my '86 350X and Honda says they are no longer available. Is a 250r or 200X the same? Thanks for any help and yes, I've been watching on Ebay. Kevin

I'm not sure,I think a 250r unit is the same,(I am not positive though), but I am sure someone will on here will know, but any master cylinder can be made to work, as long as you can get it mounted to the frame and pedal good.

An 83-85 200x master cylinder will bolt up. 85-86 250R master cylinders are slightly different in that they are threaded instead of thru-drilled for the mounting bolts, and have a longer rod on the bottom.

I've got this master cylinder I'll sell. It was on my R when I got it, but it is not the right one. I have no idea what it's for. It's a Nissin like the stocker but the bolt holes don't line up and the hose hook ups are different. I can tell you for 100% sure that it's not for an 85/86 R, Tecate, or Tri-Z. I'm going to ebay it anyway. I have no idea if it would bolt up on a 350X. It could be made to work as said earlier.

Maybe someone can tell me what it's for. It's in great shape.

If you still have your old one, Dennis Kirk has rebuild kits for them.

I bought this one new in '86. Brakes work like new the problem is it evidently was a bad casting or something because the whole casting is disinagrating(sp) It's like the fluid is coming out the pores in the metal, is that possible? Seals seem fine and I could understand if it was around them but this STARTED in the middle of the casting. Thanks for any leads as I'd like to find a real nice one to keep up with the rest of the bike. I've got 4 Honda 3 wheeler total. I'll try to post a pic of the '86 in question. 1st try at this so who knows. Kevin

What part of Ohio are you in? Maybe somebody is close enough to do an eyeball comparison.

I'm near Dayton. I have a '86 250r ATC and the pressure hose placement is different so that year is out. My '84 200X is at another location so I can't compare that now. My '85 350X is the same. I guess I'll watch ebay but people generally sell the whole system on there which adds to the price. I'll pay for a nice one but I've asked 6 different people for closeups of the master clylinder and they never reply. Are all of them doing this? My other 350X and 250r are fine....so far. Kevin

Jeb, that looks like a trx 250R master but I can't tell for sure.

Thanks xsystem. I just spent quite a bit of time browsing parts diagrams at parts fish. The TRX250R Masters are really similar. but if you orient my master with the hose inlet forward like it says on the TRX'R parts diagram with the mount holes toward the back, the outlet points the wrong way. Also, the inlet fitting comes out to the side and mine points up. I looked at allot of dirt bikes and ATVs of all types. The closest I can find to the one in my picture is 85-90 Suzuki LT250R QuadRacer. Any body with an LT250R recognize the master cylinder in my pic above? 91 92 LT250R master cylinders are different according to partsfish schematics. anyway the markings on my mastercylinder are:

NISSIN 2L 1 and a 17C. on the other side you have: 1/2 & L29. on the black plastic inlet fitting it says 11-05A.

Just Found this on ebay:

I think its now safe to say I have 85-90 LT250R Master Cylinder. It has been stripped of the black paint or the later years were not black. Can any suzuki guys verify this? I can also tell that the clevis end is different than stock.

Not trying to hi-jack Kevin's post! Lets find him a 350X Master!

x.system thanks for the tip but naturally I missed it. :x Let me know if you see any others. I guess I'll have to look at every 350x add closer. I was just doing a title search for master and brake. Kevin

I am North of Dayton in Celina ( 45822 ), I am 100% sure I can fix you up. If you can bring the machine I would install it, bleed the brakes and possibly do some Ice riding ( got to test them out, lol ). Drop me a email at 4howdy@bright.net
Thanks
