So after listening to the voice in my head for a year i decided to finally get one of the little leg breakers. I bought douglas polished wheels and a Lifan 125cc motor before i had even found a bike. Then came across this one for $250 without a motor and I was sold. So here we are after 2 weeks of farting around and drinking beer in the garage. Will update as thing progress. My plan for this build is to mimic my 250r as much as possible and make a mini R (with a 4 poke motor i know..) I already had the forks, 110 pegs, and brake drum PC'd black. Here's how we started.

Cut and extended the frame 3 1/8" for more leg room.

Lifan motor fits in there like a glove!

Here are the douglas wheels. They were initially drilled for 3 hole 70 hubs but i found out that blaster hubs work along with many others so i made a template on the laser at work and boom, 4 hole converted 70 wheels!

Looks slick now, added some 2 1/2" wheel spacers from my R that i never ran. Should be just fine for this little guy though! +5" overall width.

Cut the mounting part off a left side blaster peg and it slid right over the 110 peg. Gonna weld it on and have some little kick ups to keep me on the bike.

I want to take a 65-85CC 2-smoker and drop in to a 70. THAT would be fun as hell!!!!!! LOL
Think about it. the 65cc with the athena BB kit to 82cc makes around 20HP. imagine that tiny thing with 20hp? Talk about 250R replication!!! (i would recommend the KX65/85 engine over any other. easier to work on and parts are cheap!!

The lifan motor came with SSR logos on the side cases. Lucky for me! I'm sanding of the "SS" part and just leaving the "R". Needs more work obviously then they will get PC'd candy red to match the R cases. Time to order more parts. These little guys get expensive real quick hahahaha.

There's a guy who put a PW80 engine in one. I would love to do a CR80 motor but i need a TIG welder so i could make an attempt at pipe making. Moybe in the future. My buddy and I are putting a air fooler motor in his 85 atc70 LOL. Gonna be a rocket.

Nice looking build roost. I agree, once you have one of these they tend to multiply. Adding any extra brakes to the front?

Not at the moment. I've seen the kits that adapt a bike style front brake rotor but they don't seem very sturdy. I might fab something up that uses a little CR80 or YZ80 caliper or something. I am however making a foot brake assembly using a ATC110 pedal since i will have a clutch now.

The guy that put the pw80 in the 70 is my son. It's a blast to ride. Really snappy!
The 70s do seem to attract other 70s. I currently have 5. One 73 two 74s and two 84s. There's always room for more.

That's sweet! I bet it's a handful. I actually saw your thread where you stretched your 70! Between that and Dirtcrasher's thread i was sold on how straight forward this project really is! Thanks for getting me addicted hahahaha!

A little update. Got the exhaust and added a bit of heat in a few places. Turned out well. just need to Tig weld on a bracket on the can to attach it.

I know that exhaust. Taotao special!! LoL. We ran that on m son's 70/90 when we first started racing. When we went to 125 we changed to an largest 200cc exhaust for better flow. Good muffs. They tend to rattle apart at the bottom rivets. So keep an eye.

Yea it was just one of the cheap ebay kits. I might make something better down the road but this one will do for now

Update- Pretty much complete, need a few little things here and there. Had everything powder coated either Red, Black or Chrome. The rear brake pedal is cool and well worth the effort. I just received my 22mm Mikuni so i need to still break it in. Soon to come. I did fire it up with the china carb, started up first kick.

Here's the New Mikuni VM-22. It will be able to keep up much better than the little china crap carb. The china carb claims to be a 22mm but it tapers down to 17mm right before the slide... LAME.. Not the mikuni though!! Guess that's the difference when something is designed and not just copied and mass produced for as little as possible with the cheapest of cheap materials..
