This is one machine that I have wanted to build for about 10 years. 3 years or so ago I came across a mid 80s kx60 so I started formulating a plan to covert it like tricky dick did. I decided to go with 350x triples, kx 80 forks, 82 250r modified front hub, and all 1st Gen tecate parts in the rear. I collected all the parts and even found the same rear fender that tricky dick used but always worried about the 60cc motor being too small to whoop on Honda's like any good Kawasaki should. That's when 2 projects turned into one.
As a lot of you know, I owned the rm80 conversion that JustBen built. I loved it, it was my favorite trike to ride but it wasn't a kawasaki so Ben and I decided to build kx100 s in the same fashion. We bought bikes and ben built his but my project stalled. After purchasing an Eric Gore super mini big bore stroker kit I decided I had too many projects and decided to put the 100 on the back burner for a while. But, maybe I could borrow the motor for a while, right?
That was how I made the incredibly stupid decision to stuff my kx100 motor into the kx60. Stupidly, I cut the 60 motor mounts out thinking it would be a quick project. I quickly realized I was way over my head so I brought all my stuff over to Ben's house and let him have at it. It's at this point that I'll say that although I own this and payed for all the parts, it is truly ben's build. It wouldn't even be close to ever getting completed. When I decided to put a bigger motor in I didn't realize that so many things would have to be changed. The pipe didn't fit because the radiator was in the way so Ben moved it. Which required the tank to be moved. My idea for the triples sucked so Ben made his own conglomeration for the top one. I'll add some more photos of the build later but here it is with almost all of the fabrication work done. I need to find a correct shock to come up with the correct length link to finalize the swingarm mount, but other than that the fabrication is done. ATC70s, be on notice. Your uglyness and slowness will not be tolerated anymore, you're all about to be thunder flushed.
