want to know if anyone knows if the rear brake caliper stay(the bracket that the rear caliper bolts to) was different from 85 to 86 on 250r's. also does anyone have a picture of this. i bought a caliper from a suppossed 85 and it will not fit my bearing carrier housing bracket. i did a little research on ebay and seen people advertising 2 different kinds of brackets for 250rs, one like mine and the one i need(i think). the rear caliper i boughts mounting holes are to far apart for my bracket. would appreciate any help. i just got this wheeler in trade with no rear brake caliper. it is 86cr500 frame and motor with custom widened tripleclamp settup and 250r frontend, 250r subframe seat and fenders,cr500 tank, custom extended swingarm with the front half cr500 and the back i assume 250r axle carrier and disc brake but i dont know what year. this thing is a little scarry with only a front brake. please help.

In 86, they went to a simpler, more efficient design. Since the swingarm/axle carrier was also a newer design, they are incompatable without mods as far as I know.

yeah the 85 had a linkage like the 85X, and the 86 had a pin that held the brake stay...
