1985 Honda 250r carburetor replacement options?

I have a keihin carb on my 250r and I've had no luck getting it to run properly even after a rebuild so I was wondering if there is a current replacement that is being sold for a stock engine with no mods?

When i had my '85 250r, I purchased a used 36mm flat slide on eBay that came off a newer model cr250. Obviously , you would probably have to do some jetting, to your particular engine, but that carb worked really well for me.

On a stock trike like yours, I would go with a 34mm PJ carb off a 1986 atc 250r or a 36mm PJ carb.

That would eliminate your 34mm PE round slide carb.

You can get them cheap since most guys don't run a stock trike and therefore want a 38mm/39mm carb.

38/39MM runs fine on a stock bike, you just need to jet accordingly. Also, going with a 38/39 opens up the possibility for modifications down the road. My .02

No, if you use a twist you will need to order a special cable from either motion pro or terry cable. I prefer terry cable.

The used CR carb i purchased on ebay came with the motorcycle twist throttle and cable, which i used on my 250r.

I replied to you on my thread before I saw this one.

I took the advice of the site veterans and went with the 38mm Keihin Airstriker. I just got back from 3 days of riding and it was flawless. My bike is bone-stock otherwise. I got mine from Eddie Sanders Racing in one day (severe time crunch) after giving up on another supplier. I had been waiting three weeks and no delivery in sight.

I did have to stretch the air box tube and the insulator to fit (which produced a few F-bombs) but wasn't too bad. After that... just swapped out the cables and did a minor jetting change and was in business. Of course I had yaegerb on speed dial for that too.

Yes, they work and I have done it many times, but this- 34mm PJ carb off a 1986 atc 250r or a 36mm PJ carb= free to close to free plus there are many mods I would spend that money on before a carb. if you are looking for more performance.

The problem wasn't the power or performance of the engine, when sitting it idles and throttles great but when I'm moving it wants to bogg out like it's running out of gas and on some spots it just hits or lines up right and goes full throttle and hot dam can you feel the power, I've tried every piece of advice given to me on this except changing it out so this is probably going to be the last step before I do all the maintenance for the year.
