he has a very nice always garaged kept origional 225DX that he grew up with. he wants me to help get it looking very nice and work on doing a restore on it. Not showroom, but very nicely done. So we will be doing a motor rebuild, carb, replacing all bearings, cables repalced, new brake pads, new tires, have the wheels blasted and redone to be origional again. his plastics have a few scratches but no fading since always kept inside. i'll post photos once I recieve it and details as I go along the build.
Just wanted to give a ehads up on what is comming down the pipe.

Have fun. It may not be too rusty if it's been garaged for it's whole life.

Oh I am surprised on the condition. Looks amazingly good. Here is what I am starting with. When done it will have none of that surface rush you see.

That thing looks great as it sits. Always nice to start with something that hasn't been screwed with by a bunch of hacks over the years.

I have two suggestions for you, that I would run past him about changing, swap out the pull start handle with a honda 200 and the shifter with a honda 200 as well. It will give him a much more friendly handle to grip when pull starting as the yamaha one likes to rip out of the hands. And the shifter is very easily damaged yamaha built a weak design there, I have changed mine to honda on those already and am very pleased with them.

Nice trike...Now lets mod this thing out!

Truly one of the best 4-stroke trikes ever built.

With a few mods it is the best wheelie trike of all times...Miles of fun!

Where i'm from, if i listed that thing for sale just the way it sits, i'd have no problem writing "RUST FREE" in the ad. You southwest guys don't know how good you have it! Nice machine.

Surface rust? Man that thing is close to mint. It shouldn't take much to be showroom. I'm loving those Wooly Boogers... Classic.....

Yes- we have no rust, but on old trikes anything plastic, rubber or vinyl can be falling off, many old trikes seemed to be pushed outside at sometime.

What a BEAUTY !

My only suggestion would be to change out that nasty arse front tire. Have one on a 200 of mine and it makes them steer heavy in the front and ride rough.

It appears that someone has already been running on the "wheelie" bar.

Up here, that would be a $1,000 + trike. I LOVE AZ for their clean machines.

A good ole knobby up front would be ideal for that trike

LOL well, he is set on me tearing it partly down, doing a top end and repalcing all cables and wheel/axle bearings as well as clutch assembly. he wants to be certain it will run for anoterh 20 years trouble free. I am going to take it down to the core and sand any rust off, paint those areas and start assembly. this is what he wants, so when done it will be yes close to show room. I will post photos as I progress. Yes truely an amazing machine in itself w/o any work so it will be just that much better when I'm done with it. i want to get the axles, hobs and all external bolts re-zinced so they look new too. my goal is to offer him one amazing new lookign bike in return.

I will definatly be replacing all the rubber on it for nicer stuff. all of it is dry rotted and he does not want it anymore.
