I see some trikes usually 200x or 250rs with the rear fenders purposely cut off. I've always wondered what this was for.

some people riding the dunes would rather not have fenders flopping around and dont need the little protection they offer from water/mud, gives it a racier look in some peoples opinion and some peoples fender "base" where the seat bolts to is in good shape but the fenders are cracked. That's the only reasons I can come up with oh and maybe some hill climbers so they dont break em off while it's tumbling down the hill in some cases lol

"Race Cut"
Less wind resistance.
Racy look.
I broke or cracked my fender & cut around the damaged, but it still looks cool.
Clears the rear kick engine I put in my trike.
Helps to get back further on the rear end.
Lighter weight.
Easier to remove/replace the fender.
Front fender only- cutting the rear part helps air flow, cutting the front down keeps the head light glare from hitting you in the eyes at night.

Interesting. I always wondered if it had something to do with racing and getting your ass farther over during turns

I found a set that was cracked up and cut it down for winter use. Plastic tends to get brittle in freezing cold temperatures and I didn't want to run my nice oem plastic in case I rolled it. Here's a picture showing my 200x with 300ex rear hubs and cut plastics.

Plastic gets very brittle in the single digits. :(
Normally I just plow through little saplings and run over fallen trees. In the winter I now slow down a bit. Nothing a few zip ties can't fix. Still waiting for the thaw to find all the pieces lol.

Cut fenders easily and instantly adds $300-$600 value to your trike! 😎 😂

Well according to Craigslist listings anyway!
