I was just over at www.paatving.com and there was an article about a hard break in procedure for 4 stroke engines. The article basically said that if you revv the hell out of the engine during break in, it seats everyting better, and that the engine manufacturers "slow" engine break in is very bad, and lowers the power and reliability for four stroke engines.
Know I have never heard of such a thing, but they had pics between a piston that was broke in by manufacturer specs, and on that used the hard break in procedure, and that hard one looked brand new, while the manufacturer specs one looked like crap. I reccomend going over and reading it right away, because we may be going about engine break in all wrong, but I am a little sceptical.

This is what I do to break in my 4-strokes. You are supposed to keep them at high RPM's for a better seat of everything including the piston rings, valves, valve seats, and more. Just don't overdo it. I mean high RPM's as in constant short blips of full throttle, not holding it wide open for like 30 seconds or anything.

i have broken in 350 chevy small blacks this way several times and it works great. i have got over 100k in one racing it every weekend. the other extreme way to break in a liquid cooled 4 strike is to run it low(low not out) of water and heat it up to 240* and the rings seat instantly. do what you want, but it has worked for me.
