found a new old stock kit. says for 83-84 I have an 85. whats the difference if any? thanks John

I just built 2 of those engines last summer, and the Vesrah gasket kit I used listed all three years as being the same. No difference between those years as far as bolt patterns and flanges go.

Make sure the rubber plug is in the head oil gallery or that cam will get cooked; If ya didn't know I'm just sharing because allot of guys do that.

thanks wasn't aware of that. but I was going to use the manual have to split the cases for the ratchet gears. and have never done it before.

Part number 5 is the plug DC is talking about. It's a tiny little thing. (That's what she said ;))

we lost the plug for "red" years ago, what I did was take a tooth pick and use black hi-temp and slowly fileld the plug port with it using a tooth pick to guide it in. then when it dried used a razorblade to trim the top. this worked perfect and what i like is no more plug to loose!!! ;)
anyway jsut sharing.

the next time we actually do a complete head rebuild, we will remvoe the silicone and drill/tap the hole for an allen screw to resovle the issue perminatly.
