My Buddy Has a 1984 Honda 200ES,
It just started to spray Oil out of the rope hole in the Recoil when you pull start it , and also drips oil out of the bottom of the Recoil, when it is running. Would this be the flywheel seal? Is it bad for him to run it like this if he keeps the oil level up? It also smokes (A LOT) and has done this since it was given to him, about six months ago. It does not seem to be low on power through. What would cause it to smoke like this just rings? Any help would be very much appreciated .

Thanks .

It could also be bad valve guide seals, when I got my 200X motor it looked like a bug fogger, new valve gide seals and all better.

I had this exact same problem on my 83 200 just a few months ago. Take the recoil assembly off and you will see a rubber oil seal on the end of the flywheel (in the startor cover) that will be leaking. I took the stator cover off, pounded out the old oil seal, and put a new one in, problem fixed!
