Picked up an ATC70 that had a chinese head and piston and rings put in it. Stock everything else. When they rebuilt all this (they think timing is on) it was sluggish, got put on a shelf and not touched for a year. It has good spark and getting fuel. I have not checked compression yet but I was wondering what you guys thought could be the issue. Anything come to mind for anyone right off the top of their head? I haven't tore into anything yet and wasn't sure where to start. Thanks in advance.

First thing check to see if the timing is set right then check compression .

I will see if I can check into the timing tonight and get a reading on compression as well.

Checked compression, 135 psi after 3 pulls throttle open. Going to check the timing, points, etc tonight and throw in a new plug and see what happens...

Update: Changed Plug, Cleaned Carb and starts right up now. But has no power at all. Can't get out of first gear and can't get any throttle at all. After trying to ride it there is quite a bit of smoke coming from exhaust (tip and some at head). This is a fresh head, piston and rings. Any ideas?
