View Full Version : 86 Tecate transmission bearing?

I'm finishing putting my 2nd Gen Tecate motor back together. It sat on a bench for 5 months, I moved and had to throw a bunch of it in tubs, and it sat for another couple of months until recently...so my memory is not too fresh with what went where. I'm using the parts fiche and the supplemental manual to put it back together but some of the pictures aren't very clear. I put the cases back together and don't know if I missed installing this bearing on one of the transmission shafts. I feel like a retard but thought I'd ask the experts before I go yank the cases back apart. Hopefully someone will chime in...
Thanks,
Ryan

you sure that doesn't go in the clutch basket? Looks small for that. Each trans shaft should have a bearing like that on the end of it and held on by snap ring.
It should have been on the end of the shaft on left in the last picture but it figures- it's missing.
You should be able to see them on the shaft end on each side of the case halves because they ride in races and support the end of the shaft. If the shaft was not supported it would be pretty obvious.
Bearing 92046 and 92046A

Thanks nd4speed, I was working on it this morning and found that it went on one of the trans shafts but in the right side case...under the gear that's between the kickstart gear and clutch gear...phew! But now I found out I'm missing the pin (92043A) that holds the advance lever from moving up and down in the right side case :/ and I can't find it anywhere, guess I'll have to get creative...maybe a small roll pin?

206889206890206891This is that pin. I have all those parts for sale, they are in the pictures above. I would like to sell whole piles of parts at once, like the clutch cover and parts in the bin minus the kickstart gears and the clutch basket (sets of parts). Even the clutch plates are good. I have whole 84/85 bottom end I just want gone.
Or make one yourself but that is chrome looking pin with spherical ends because it hold a PV actuator in place and the actuator is turning and rubbing against it.

I have that bottom end 86 parts trans /clutch that had bad crank rod bearing. Another failed motor (i think) and a complete untested motor.
Basically I would like to sell what is in the pictures if possible(minus the crank to save weight unless u want it).
The shipping to cali wont be that cheap though unless maybe I try Fed Ex again since they shipped a frame for me. Might check their prices. It all depends on weight. Will send most of bottom end in bucket but clutch cover and basket my need another box.
This one may have the notorious chipped trans shaft where the sprocket c-clip is. Will have to count the primary gear teeth (looks like 18) KX250 has 20 tooth primary so that is a Tecate bottom end, it was the original first motor in the first Tecate I bought.
