I have my frame ready to either powder coat or pain as it would have been. So my question does it hurt the value to powder coat when restoring this bike. I powder coated one motor mount and spray canned the other and I like the spay can better, but that could be because I prepped it better. Let me know what you think would be the best for a restore. 206802

Hi,
If you don't intend to use it I would paint it 100%.

That's my thinking, I will ride it just enough to get some pics. But I know how I am, I'll end up selling it and I don't think the collector that would want it will ride it much either.

I know powder coat is the "in" thing to do but I'm a paint person myself. If you get a chip in your powder coat it's ruined, at least with paint you can touch it up.

Powder would be the way to go just for durability.Even just for assembly proposes. You can buff a scratch out of powder coat pretty easy.It resists chips really well.Won't affect the value since it is pretty much the norm.Besides if the powder isn't applied really thick it will look like paint. You won't see much of the frame once assembled any way.

I vote paint. It's the way it was and the way it should be.

Pete didn't do these tanks, these were made by someone at Honda or farmed out to someone. They are not cut and welded like Pete did, they are hand formed.

It's going to be painted. Before my Dad pasted I got all the filters and spray gun ect. so it's time to learn how to use it.
