1985 atc 350x Kick starter installation problem

Can someone help me install my kick starter gear and shaft? I have the manual, but just can't seem to make it install and work right. I have the kick starter assembled correctly, but when I hook the spring under the ratchet guide, the punch mark does not face up. I can't get it to kick right either when installed this way.

When I hook the spring into the spot in the case that is cut out and the trans is visible, It seems to work as it should, but the punch mark does not face up. Does the spring hook into the cut out spot?

there are 2 punch marks on the shaft,i belive without looking one on end of shaft is for kickstart lever

I think I can't figure out how to lock the ratchet in. Does the ratchet go between the 2 allen head bolts or under the lower allen bolt?

The ratchet hooks where the book shows. The punchmark there is for the decompression cam piece.

The catch is under a plate if I recall. You have to rotate clockwise and tip the kicker shaft on an angle to get it in just right.

In the back of that kicker shaft there is a thrust washer people lose, put grease on it to hold it.

As the other fellow pointed out the outer dot is for the kicker placement.

Be carefull putting the side cover back on. This is where a lot of folks break the parts for the decomp.
