Very easy but an impact screwdriver is a must in order to loosen any Phillips screws loose .

YUP. dont even bother with a regular phillips screwdriver. you will likely just booger the head and the impact driver will be useless. At that point grab the drill...

imspect for any scaring or marks on the gear sets. if there are, pump is trashed. if not, clean it, lub it with petro baised gel for engines or engine assembly lube, repalce the inner gasket and your done!

I wonder if there are service limit specs listed anywhere?
Like feeler gauge between gear and housing?
or is it just visual and slop check.

standard / service limit:
tip clearance: 0.15mm (0.006") / 0.20mm (0.008")
body clearance: 0.30 - 0.36mm (0.012-0.014") / 0.40mm (0.016")
pump end clearance 0.15 - 0.20mm (0.006-0.008") / 0.25mm (0.010")

search on here for a downloadable oem service manual, that's where I got mine, and the specs you see above

if you have the $ just order a new pump. for the extra few $ is means a solid runnign machien for sure. I typically repalce a pump when i do a motor.

i usually replace the oil pump also, but it would be so much cheaper to rebuild one.on the 200es i see 2 main parts and a gasket.total cost around $40.new oil pump, cheapest on ebay is around $80.mike what part of tx are you in.
