Looking to sand and or blast my wheels and repaint them. Leaning towards the Duplicolor brand wheel primer/paint in gunmetal gray with a clear coat (Rattle Cans) and wanted to know if anyone has tried this before or what other paints did you use and are you happy with them? Also how much paint did you use? one can per wheel???
I have 2-3 cans of the Duplicolor bed liner left from another project so I'll use that on the utility Racks, Foot pegs & Skid pates.

I love the duplicolor high performance wheel coating in silver. clean the wheel good coat of primer then paint. This paint lasts a long time and is easy to touch up when needed. yea about one can per wheel. with this paint i would worry about clear. If your bike is a honda this paint is a great match for cload silver.

Thanks I'll stop by my local parts store tomorrow and pickup 3 cans of it. Good to know I'll skip the clear,
How much prep did it take did you sand and remove all original paint and rust or just remove rust scuff and shoot?
Did you remove the tires? Or mask them off?
This isn't a show piece I'm refurbing but I want it decent looking so I'm not sure if bare metal is required

get all the rust off defenetly you dont have to get all the old paint off but get it nice and smooth I suggest 320grit sand paper. Then wash and dry the wheel to get it clean. Prime with rustolean primer wait for that to dry shouldnt take but a couple of minutes then spray the paint. Do not skimp on your prep work in the long run it uses less paint and looks better. you can paint the wheel with the tires on. Just mask them up really well you do not want over spray on the tires it looks really bad.

Duplicolor does make high quality paint. But another option that resembles Honda cloud silver is Rust-oleum metallic matte nickel.
