Hi I have been lurking around for a while now on this board , never really posting but reading with great interest. Having grown up on three wheelers this site has brought back lots of great memories. Thanks to all of you for that. I really want to purchase a 250 r in new unrestored condition and as you guys know it is very hard to find someone who bought ,never rode and stored any atc. The one being listed on E-Bay looks really good but never having bought a vehicle on e-bay I am gun shy. I have tried to e-mail the seller but it keeps saying something is wrong with his e-mail. That is the first red flag for me, the second being he is listing it for his friend. I find it hard to believe anybody does not have the capacity to use a friends computer and set up their own e-bay account. Are all the guys bidding over 3,000 doing it with no additional info? If you buy through pay-pal are you somewhat protected? I dont mind paying out the nose but is there any way to know what you are getting without seeing it in person? Have you guys had good or bad experiences buying atc's from e-bay? I was thinking of having the seller bring it to a local dealer and have him inspect before it is paid for and shipped. I wonder if a seller would do this, he should if he is honest. thanks for listening.

First off welcome aboard. Ebay is basically buyer beware. Communication with the seller BEFORE placing a bid on a big ticket item is the rule. Those of us who have wrenched on a lot of trikes can glean a lot of info from the pics on ebay if they are decent quality and show the right angles. Find out as much as you can about the history of the machine, check feedback ratings, and if you have doubts try to get the actual owners phone number to speak with him directly. It would be great to have the machine inspected by a dealer, but it is up to the seller. He can always say to you not to bid if you don't "trust him". You might also be able to find someone on this site in the area who would be willing to take a look at it for you. Everyone I have spoken with on here seems willing to help others out when they can. Post a link of the 250R so we can give you input on it.

It looks good, everything looks to be in place. I just can't get over the price, that is pretty steep.

Yes it is very high, but from what I have been reading here alot of guys spend more than that trying to turn their bikes into showroom quality machines.

Before I bid on that trike I would request up close and from every angle sharp crystal clear images before spending that much loot. It does look good but we can only see one side and those pic's are not really sharp.
It very well could be what he describes, but could also be a repainted worn out abused trike with armour-all poured all over it. If he cant or wont produce better pic's I'd be very weary.

The auction lists an address and phone number. You call that?
If you look at the Right radiator scoop, looks like part of the sticker is scrapped off.

If nothing has been reworked or painted on that bike, that's as close to new as they get. Notice how there is no wear on the rear brake lever or frame from feet rubbing? If that is the original paint this is definitely a low hour machine. I would not advise spending anywhere near that kind of money without personally viewing it or having a friend do so. A great looking bike can have a myriad of hidden problems. Post an ad on here requesting Minnesota guys to drive out to have a look, I know I'd be glad to if I were in the area. Best of luck, and if you do get it, make sure you post plenty of pics for us....cause damn that thing's pretty!

That is a very steep price and the reserve is not even met yet! Can't really tell its condition by the photos. I would send him an email asking for CLEAR pics of the trike. INCLUDING both sides. Better yet if its not to far away from you, take a drive and go look at in person.
