mmmkay. i have motor out a a free 83 big red. the thing smoked like a freight train. it ran great and started right up... would you believe that the cam had like 1/4 inch of play?!

long post short. just for funsies... i'm planning on some HIGH compression and e85. just to be an asshole.

heres the next thing. I was going to turn down the cam, clean up the head, throw some bearing in it and see what happened... but the lobes are toast of course. so i went surfing on ebay looking for an xr200 cam. here is what i found.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-14100-KBB-900-CBX200-NX200-XR200-CAM-SHAFT-CAMSHAFT-/271682317622?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f41872d36&vxp=mtr

what the hell is that? i read about some company putting bearings on cams (megacycle?) uuuuh.?

That cam fits the later series of Honda singles, that trigger their ignition off the crank. Notice there's no protrusion to mount the advance mechanism and pulse generator? Later CB125's, TLR200's, and the like used that style. The last ATC125's that had the vertical engine were similar, but didn't have true bearings like that cam, sort of a half-breed between our beloved 200 engines and the later style engine that the weird cam you found would fit.

Ouch! That's what the cam looked like in my "running" (according to seller/inactive member here who shall remain nameless) 200X that I bought in pieces as a project. I'm glad I tore that motor open, and I bet you're glad you did the same!

I pulled the ignition cover and it was half full of oil lol. so it was coming apart either way!

you got a lot of work there and tons of parts to replace. good luck with it. i bet the main bearings are trashed too.
i would consider a complete rebuild with all new bearings, clutch, cam, springs, valves, head/cylinder work, piston and more. done right your probably talking about $750 minimum if not heavily modded. if wanting a kick in the pants, double that easily.

nope. its going to be nitty gritty elcheapo low buck used parts special when im done with it! and the lower end and clutch are more then fine... for now :P
