Another ATC70 rebuild - with ?'s

I'm in the middle of restoring/rebuilding my '83 ATC70 for my 3.5 year old daughter. She's even helping!! Here is a progress picture from earlier today - bars and controls are now installed (plastics are Maier white carbon fiber). My daughter's name is Ivy, hence why we're going with the green theme (more on that to come later). Does anyone run a 70 without the stamped steel chain/sprocket cover? Will it hurt anything if its exposed and I lube it often, rather than keeping it enclosed? I'm indifferent. Any other tips on my build are recommended!!!!

alot of people dont run them, theyre not necessarily need if you keep on top cleaning. however, they do stop little girls fingers and hands getting caught in the chain or any loose clothing.

you may also run the risk of grounding out on ruff terrain, in which case you can run this;

personally for safetys sake and just to keep it looking clean id run one. you might struggle to find a rust free straight one.

I've got a rust-free, straight one that I just re-painted. I just didn't know if it was worth putting back on since most big bikes don't have anything enclosing the chain.

I've had many 70's over the last several years, I believe 19 of them. Close to half were users without the cover and had no problems at all. For these little trikes I'm a believer in not lubing the chain, the dirt and crap does not stick to the chain then.
