There is a slight difference in the Heat Shield between the 85 and 86 350X's, but the exhaust systems are interchangable.

There are diferences in the rear sprocket hubs I think....not exactly sure. If I get some time tomorrow, I'll pull it up on my parts manual CD and check it out.

The 85 and 86 rear sproket are different. 85 has bolts with nuts, 86 has recessed bolts with allen heads.

sorry if i was not clear. looking for interchangable parts on the 86 tecate axle.

so the heat shields are different on the 86 350x? does the 85 heat shield bolt up to it?

I'm pretty sure the difference is in the heat shield itself, the plastic outer layer specifically. The mounting is the same. I'm not sure if you are trying to do a 100% resto or not, so wanted to give you that info.

thanks for the info, but not interested in a 100% resto. that would be way too much money. i already have lots of aftermarket parts on the bike. i just like the stock pipe and silencer. it is quiet and forest approved.
