My silver Honda engines have mud stains from the years of use. I'm looking for a way to get the grime out of the cylinder and head fins and leave a nice finish. Any suggestions?

I buy a cleaner called purple power, you can even get it by the 5gal buckets. you can dilute it for different applications, but put some in a spray bottle and let it soak for a little, and if you have access to a heated pressure washer that probably wouldn't hurt either.

I even use it as an alternative to clean carbs. Works great. Maybe someone else can vouch for it.

i find that the "Purple Power" product in straight, undiluted form, leaves a film on components, even after pressure washing off.

i mix Purple power with simple green and dilute that down with water in a spray bottle. seems to work very well with no film left afterward

Straight purple power is caustic. Dilute it for sure. If you do apply it undiluted spray it with wd-40 or break out the polish and wax....have fun with that.

I have used a soda blaster with great results.
