so mine had major failure, ball bearings were rolling around inside and chewed the balancer a bit on the edges on the inside part, from lobe to lobe. Would you rebuild and run it!? ....or should I source a new one. Its not terrible but then again its a balancer...
also if I need a new one, whats your guys take on sourcing one, having them rebuilt etc etc......this is my first time doing anything with a balancer
thanks!

Get the bearing on ebay, and buy a used one if that is all chewed up. Then rebuild the used balancer.. Bearing number 16007
If it was jumping around that bad, I would be concerned you case is egg shaped on the clutch basket side at the bearing bore and the bearing will fit loose even if new. You may want to check that. If so you need a new/used case side or Jason hall can bore them and fix them last I heard. also replace the left holder bearing too.

Where you think the ball bearings "chewed it from lobe to lobe", are just machining marks from the manufacturing process I believe. I'd rebuild it & run it. I can see that the clutch side bearing self-destructed, was the stator side bearing still intact, or did it fail as well? Regardless, replace both bearings.

The case was a little chewed but not very bad, the outer race still fit quite snuggly in it. If need be i'll have it fixed.
The marks are definitely not from factory....its chewed. If you look at other pics of them on ebay and such there are no marks like on mine, they are nice and smooth up to the edge
I have a new left side bearing retainer and bearing from esr on the way. the left side bearings was bad but not exploded like the right. Although all 3 mounting points were broken on the bearing retainer. The bearing from ESR is shielded I think (at least it was in the pic) , so im guessing I need to pop that shield off???
This is not a motor I have been riding fyi, just one picked up and am going through.

Mines rebuilt. Rebuild and run if everything else is good. FYI mine looked just like yours when i pulled it from my motor and my bearings were fine. I believe those are just machining marks..
