200x .. xr200 head ....

will this bolt on a 85 200x cylinder?? I thought they stopped making the xr200's in like 87 or some wheres aroudn there ??? 2001 ... ?

Also I though the whole idea of putting the xr head on the 200x was for the 4 valves?? This one only has 2 ... ?

Yes it will bolt on. An XR200 with four valves.........I dont think so. That engine has pretty much been the same since it's birth. I belive it was discontinued last year and replaced with the CRF230F. There was a XR200R way back(84-85 maybe) that had a four valve head with a twin carb setup and was only made a few years before going to the two valve single carb design that your X has. There was an XR200 and a XR200R at the same time and the 200R four valve head was dropped for the 2 valver and been pretty much the same since. My guess It would be pretty darn tuff to put the twin carb, twin header, four valve head engine in your X. I just might be wrong about all this but I think I'm pretty close. It was a long time ago.

i just put a xr200r head on my 85 x and it fits fine. also it is a 2 valve. the heads are the same except the r head has a hotter cam and supposedly stronger springs.

Powroll says the 200X has the best flow rates out of all 200cc cyl. heads. XR's have the decompression lever for easier starts w/ high compression ratios.... Less abuse to the weak kickstart gears.

I believe they quit making the 2 valve xr's in 84 or 85, but the xr 200 motors are still being made today....a friend of mine has an xr200 dirtbike (2002) but its got the 4 valves i believe

Honda quit making the four valve 200 motor in 85. That engine was only produced for two years. From 1980-1983, two valve head just like your X. From 1984-85 four valve head.(w/dual carbs and head pipes) From 1986-2002 two valve head just like your X. The CRF230F has replaced the XR200R since 2003. If the 200 motor is still being made than what is it going in?
