How often do you tear down the top end on your 2 strokes for inspection and maintenance? Let's hear it!

Every winter. Ensures a worry free mind in the summers.

Hell I built my R in 2009 and I haven't done anything to it except for chains, sprockets, and oil change. The clutch needs attention but it still runs like a raped ape..

LOL. Same here. 2007 for mine. Heard some other guy on here went 20 years and when he tore it down, nothing needed replacing!

Was doing it between 150 and 200 hours (trail riding, race would be much more often), but that is about to change. I have a 16 hour trip planned and I'm at about 180 hours on the rings. I plan to pull the pipe off next week. If the piston is shiny below the rings it goes as is, if it's brown I'll put rings in it. With a nikasil bore if you change rings early enough the piston can last a long time, but if you run them till the rings are sloppy you'll need a piston and you could break a skirt as well.

Compression check at end of your riding season!! And as soon as compression dips below 150PSI it is time. That is what i do.
