I worked on a friends '83 250R a couple of years ago and this thing was in almost perfect, original condition. So clean in fact I laid rags on the frame cradle when I removed and installed the motor so I would not chip or scratch the frame.
Well, today I worked on it again and was shocked by the condition. He has been letting his meathead 16 year old son ride it and this nit has never ever cleaned it after riding on the beach. Rust everywhere. Scratches and cracks everywhere. Caked on mud and dirt burned onto the engine. The Brand new DG pipe I fitted 12 months ago is almost rusted through with great flakes of metal peeling off. The fork tubes covered in rust. Seat cover torn and rear fender broken.
In other words this thing is rooted.
How is it some people treat their trikes like this? Can't they see it disintegrating before their eyes?
I'm lost for words.
