tecate kick start lever - another part that works, cheap!

In dire need of a kick start lever for my emergency/backup tecate, I decided to take a gamble off eBay.

I grabbed a 1990 Mojave kick start lever for $13 shipped. It bolted up, but swung out the wrong way. After a few minutes of grinding, it works as well as OEM :)

I'll upload pictures once I get home. Phone+upload=dumb.

Yes, please post pictures but I suspect there are a lot of kick start levers by kawasaki that can be made to work and dont cost $60-$110.

After looking at Mojave lever pictures he is correct. The lever was made to swing in the opposite direction, the boss/spline part has a corner that does not allow the lever to rotate the correct way for a tecate, grind that corner off and make it rounded like the other side and it will work. But it can also rotate in towards the motor.

I have posted that just about every KX250 lever works but the spline length is smaller on the boss for KX250 so you must use the KX250 shaft and gears, but KX250 lever is longer.

VERY interesting. It beats haveing a welded up one that I put in my boot after starting. That way I can feel it in my boot and dont loose it. Tecates are impossible to find in Easteren Canada. But i do know about some Mojaves. What about the klr one? I take it mojaves kick forward?
