i have to blip the throttle to make the engine braking work, it must engage the sprag clutch when i do it, maybe needs some new springs or something.
any other ideas or help appreciated from all.
thanx john

The sprag clutch ( better known to me as the one-way clutch ) is not adjustable.
How it works ( short form ): The clutch consist of a bunch of sorta boned shape peices of steel contained in a cage. These grip the flywheel and the clutch when engaged.
I am also willing to bet when you shut the machine off you hear a spinning sound coming from the right side of the motor. In may also end with a clunk. This is tell tale signs of the one-way clutch being bad.
Will it hurt to run it this way? YES!! , The one-way clutch also works to keep the motor from turning backwards. If the motor turns backwards it will engage the starter and destroy the starter gear and the end of the starter. This is a very common problem on this style motor.
Is it hard to fix? Not too hard at all. Less than 2 hours for most 1st timers. Probably less than a hour after that.
I hope this helps.

what makes it bad broken teeth or worn parts?

Worn parts is the cause of the one-way clutch going bad in 99.9% of the cases. I never have seen a broken one.
I forgot to add this in my last posting: The one-way clutch isn't a cheap part. They do run over $55. But if not fixed sooner or later you will trash the starter ( over $200 from Honda ) and the starter gear ( $?? ). Add that to the cost of the clutch now and it can become VERY expensive fix. This is why I say fix it now before it is too late.
