Hmm...sounds to me like it's the waterpump seal, in the clutch cover. They're about 20 bucks.

sounds to me like its an unsolvable problem.. you just need to give that Tri Z to me so I can dispense of it accordingly

:D or yeah.. what Goku said.

The only way to get water or coolant into the crank is through the water pump seal, unless your driving through water and its coming in through the crank vent. A bad head gasket will cause other problems, such as trace amounts of gas/oil in the coolant or steam in the exhaust but will not put coolant in the crank.

This is a little off the subject but have any of you seen or heard of an 86R getting a little oil and gas mixture behined the cover on the stator side. I noticed when I pulled it off it had a little oil and gas in there about a coke cap full, but everything looked like brand new in there.

Might be your left crank seal going bad.

any year banshee waterpump seal WILL WORK on a z,found a new one at the house and it even has the same casting numbers inside!!the shaft diameter is the same too!!we see if this is where the leak is coming from!!

Either you have bad crank seals, or its coming in when you wash it past the rubber bootie on top of the stator cover.

Yeah, yamaha uses a lot of the same seals on their bikes, I believe you can use an 84-97 yz250 waterpump seal (same as tri-z), I bought a 94 yz250 one for mine.
