guys,its a sad day,

my 85 bigred 250es burnt down :(.
went to get it and when i opened the door i was in tears, it got pretty much everything.only thing is still good in the front fender and forks and light.and one rear tire.

so the question is

is there anyone that knows if they sell aftermarket fenders and parts?

we rebuilt it 4 years ago and had new everything

we are wanting to get it back up and running.but the parts are very very high to what they was 4 or so years ago.

the only thing we can think of is the battery blew up. the fire jump the tank and got the dash and brake cables.the fire also went under the tank and came with in a 1/2 ich of the fuel line. we dont want it to sit.cause iv had it ever since i was 9.

when we rebuilt it about 4 years ago the fenders where around 140 for the rear and about 60 for the front.now there 220 for the rear about 100 for the front.the side panels are crazy high.150 for one.thats crazy.

Holy crap bud that's a shame! I can't believe no one seen any black smoke....unless it happened at night. And yes I guess it could be worse. If I had any parts they would be yours for cheap.

we are thinking if burn it self out.since the building was all close up.now if the window was open then everything would have went.

right now.it sits at well over 1000 bucks to get it back in the shap it was in :(

Yes like others have said about it being possibly so much worse, it certainly had that potential. But there again even though you know your "luck", if you want to call it that, it is still a terrible loss.
It looks like the right side kicker cover may have been some what spared real damage,,, or is it toast as well ???

Not sure how things workin you area but some home owner insurance policies will cover a utility atv and lawn equipment that you own on your property if it gets stolen or damaged. As long as you used it to maintain your property. Plowing yard cart debris moving , wood hauling , even dragging trash to the curb.
May be worth looking into.

My wife will be listing some restored seats on ebay for that model shortly.

Good luck with the repairs..Fires scare the trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro outta me. Sorry for your loss.

How long had it sat? Last time it was ran? Are you positively SURE,noone could gain entry to that shed and this wasn't arson? I see at least 2 gas cans on the floor,a gas powered pressure washer? And nothing else caught.. Fire is a very strange animal. One of my friends homes that burnt was the same way. Burnt to the ground from a clothes dryer,,but there were shelves left in the kitchen with unbrowned papers on that shelf..What is the gray strip laying down the back of the tank? Looks like heat shield, but I know it's not.. Scary stuff for sure....

Wow, just saw this, sorry for your loss.

Can you make up a full list of parts you will need? I should have some of the parts, I sell under ebay prices as well. Some of the 250es parts are listed here: http://atcfixer.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3

When you have the list of parts you need, I can go check what I have and make you a bulk deal. Let me know if you are interested.

EDIT: Took a look at my local craigslist postings, but couldn't find any 250es parts machines :(. Maybe there is a cheap parts machine around out there that you could pay for someone else to pick up, and have them ship the parts you need?

Well, here is to hoping that any of you Bigred (or even SX) owners that may have extra parts to donate to BigRedfreak250 (Robert) for the rebuild of his burnt out Bigred I know it would be greatly appreciated.
I will never get caught up "Paying it forward" simply because so many have helped me along the way,,, but darn it I will go down trying !
I don't post these pictures up for a pat on the back or anything of the sort. It is to let you all know what is not there that if you have it, please pay it forward.
Package will be heading your way Monday Robert, good luck with the resurrection !

Thanks, john + Liway

The battery in my mom's riding lawnmower also burst into flames. Spontaneous combustion was the official finding of the fire Marshall. Happened at 2 in the morning and by an absolute stroke of luck her neighbor had gotten up to get a drink of water and saw flames in the garage. Also in another stroke of luck she only lives a mile from the fire dept. They were there in under 3 minutes and were putting it out. Had it not been for her neighbor it could have been much worse. Thank god for them. It burned her mower down which then set fire to the garbage cans behind it. Really did a number on the garage. Her explorer, my 68 Camaro, and my Cagiva were in there. Of course that pales in comparison as to what could have happened as she was sound asleep and had no idea it was even happening until a fireman burst in and dragged her out. You just never know when these things can happen. I hope you get your big red rolling again soon !

Battery disconnect like on drag cars that's one way of stopping

would that work? cause that would kill the power from being draw out of the battery when it would be sitting right?

here are some pictures.not the best.its raining out and our building and shed is still all out of shape.

still got to paint the front of the frame.but this picture is just showing the front forks that are painted
