Bought my wife this '85 ATC250SX for Valentines day. It wasn't in bad shape to begin with, but I decided to give I a little makeover anyways.
Here is the day she got it:

I've been collecting odds and ends for it and now it's time to make it over. I started with new wheels and rubber for the rear.

Stay tuned!!!

Got the hardware switched to the new plastic. Still need to swap the mudflaps over but had to soak the nuts in PB Blaster. Ordering a new front tire in a day or so. Also gonna get some new grips and fork boots. I told myself that I wasn't gonna go overboard and turn it into a full rebuild but damn I see something not right I can't help but want to fix it! Lord help me keep this simple!

Good luck with that last remark.
I think that once you're bitten by the trike restoration bug... you can never get rid of the itch!!!

I think it needs a 350x front end with a nicely polished rim to better match those rears!

That's awesome, If only I could get my wife to be excited over building a trike :)
I'd be happy if she was willing to just ride again

Well, it just so happens I'm going to try my hand at reproducing some Toomey/FMF style muffler/silencers. I've got a ton of 2 3/4 inch stainless pipe. Just haven't decided if the endcaps will attach on the sides or ends....

No, they were part of a special order from Maier plastics. You have to order at least ten to get a special color. This is a set from one of those orders.

It's looking good. The green is different. You should paint the gas cap as well as those rusted splash guard screws on your new rear fender.

Trust me I see all the flaws and things that I should do. I was trying to freshen it up a bit without doing a complete tear down and rebuild. It's hard to draw a line with this but I had to stop somewhere or it would be scattered all over waiting to be built instead of bombing through the trails in Michigan last weekend. I will eventually finish the detail items but for now it's together and being ridden.

looks good man! I know exactly what you mean. I have too many running machines in boxes because of that fact. exhaust and foot pegs would be perfect though! Hope she enjoys
