I grabbed this dx225 for a decent deal. It was disgusting and had little issues.
Sun brittled plastics, rusted out headlight, recoil disassembled, locked up/dead brakes, elec start clutch near dead, Cracked tires....the usual.

So I rebuilt the carb with a ymf 250 kit and tuned the afr, runs great and idles nice.
I shaved the plastics down and buffed them, gave the rears a trim do to a botched rack job. And a nice flare to go with it.
Bought a recoil sear/friction spring($32), starts great now. Also did a headlight delete and brake fix.

Much more work to come for this trike.

Looking good! It looks like its in really decent shape! Gotta get some fresh paint on those rims!

id say its a 7 out of 10 now. could use a nice led or hid headlight setup, starter clutch, seat cover eventually, skinny tri-z tire/rim for the front and some mud klaws for the back. to make it a 9 out of 10.
I know lol, the rims are in bad shape. i cant decide on black or silver though...

I would go black if it was my machine but that's just me. there isn't any other silver/gray on it right?

I'm thinking black also. I'll end up doing the forks in the same color as the rims too or I'll polish them out.
I also cleaned all the rust/chrome flakes left out of the headlight, hit it with a coat of vht silver and threw a 35w xenon super yellow bulb in.

Took it for a 10 mile ride down canal roads and gravel yesterday, lol found out the hard way that the reserve position on my petcock is clogged. Other than that, it was great! This thing flies compared to a big red.....drifts corners pretty hard, loves to wheelie, cruises at 50mph like a greased up hooker.
Couldn't ask for a better machine....unless it was a 85-86 250r or 85-86 350x.

Maybe its just me, but it almost feels weird having brakes on a 3wheeler. Out of the dozen trikes I've owned, only the CurtisSparks 200x and this have had functioning brakes lol...no wonder I've broke/bruised/cracked/dislodged nearly 75% of my ribs and my sternum.

Haha sounds like fun I would die if my 350x didnt have brakes its no atc110 like I was used to lol

I decided somewhere between black and silver, kind of a charcoal metallic on this quick little project.

That thing would look kickass with a Z front end on it.

yes it would... I think that's the single best upgrade to a YTM 225... put the Tri Z front end on it.

Especially with the way those fenders are trimmed...
