Poorly installed oil filter / 250 es / sx

Re-do on a 85 ES , with a SX engine in it . Almost finished with it , so I got new filter and oil . When I took the old filter out I saw that the rubber grommet that goes to the cover side was half pushed into the filter hole . Could this cause poor oiling to the top end ?

Anything that obstructs that oil passage can cause restricted oil flow to the head so yes. You are correct in your assumption.

Thx for the reply ,,, thinkin out loud . All put back as it should be . Runs cooler now . Carb still lean , but thats next on the list .
