I'm not convinced that you could build a nicely engineered ramp for what they are selling for new. Not everyone is into fabrication either.

Sorry but no input from me, never could afford such niceties. Muscle ramp.

I always hand loaded also till a couple of big heavy quads started showing up around me...

I bought a pair of really heavy duty tri-fold aluminum (so their good for trikes too) ramps from Rocky Mountain probably 7 or 8 years ago. I don't remember the brand name, but grizzlys and other huge quads have went up on them with no problem. They were like $165 or something back then I think.

That's what I use . Well worth the money , ( under $100 ) light weight , stores nice when not in use . 1500 pound rated . Cabelas has a nice one as well .

I have a tri-fold unit from Northern Tool. It was on sale, is 7 foot long, and very well made. I prefer it over the standard aluminum ramps I have. Best part is it comes with safety chains, not straps that break from age.

I got my tri-fold ramp from menards. Cost about $160. Yutrax is the brand name but any good ramp will work.

like anything else from HF its item specific. i'm super-skeptical about what i buy from there, but after seeing the tri-fold ramp they sell for like $89 i was sold. thing is simple, solid, good to go. i highly recommend. its gotten a ton of use, and i leave it in the truck often and it looks like new. just use the safety chains.

Yeah I've got the Harbor Freight ramp as well. I haven't had any issues with the construction, but if your truck is high, like at all, like a regular 4x4, it might not be long enough. The Harbor Freight ramp is significantly shorter than most that are more money. I used mine for a long time, still have it actually, but since putting the flatbed on my truck and hence raising the body about 5 inches or so, the incline on the ramp is too steep. I have to buy another one now.
