I know it's been asked before and ive asked in my 250sx build thread. But everything that I have found in my search comes back to finding a good stock exhaust, a kimplex exhaust (which is only the muffler) or some type of slip on from another machine.

My question is, is there a full exhaust system ie. The header/ head pipe and muffler that I could use with a little modification? I would like a new exhaust and there is no one that makes or will make an exhaust for a 250sx ( I've already made a few calls, DG COBRA). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've never seen an aftermarket header pipe for the SX/ES but there is a replacement muffler assembly that will fit.

I installed one of these on my SX a couple years ago as replacement to my rusted out original. The curvature of the pipe is a perfect fit..but the mid-pipe mounts are different between the SX and ES.

You'll need to cut the support mount off the frame..but then just slip it into the header pipe.

I think im gonna try to find a used trx250x/300ex system and see how close it is. From what I've seen the bends are probably in the right place. A muffler shop could maybe re-bend the pipe to fit or make me a new one.

I love my Cobra on the SX. Sounds mean. Requires it's own header as well. I'm trying to come up with a heat shield for it though. Gets a little warm on the leg.

Back in the day you could order a head back supertrapp exhaust, but obviously it's gunna be a little tough to find now a days.
There isn't really all that much of a difference in the header other than a slightly different bend.
Here are a couple of pics, supertrapp on the top, stock on the bottom.

I had a Cobra system for the SX not too long ago. Looks to be the same diameter pipe as the Supertrapp. One thing that is different on the stock headpipe that not many acknowledge is that it is double wall throughout it's entire length, bend and all right up to the union with the rear muffler section. I have not measured, but it looks to be close to 1" ID. I had a wrecked pipe once that would not separate from the engine or anywhere else...so I cut it off to save the muffler section which was when I found this. In know the Cobra headpipe and I assume the ST as well are single wall.
