200s jetting

my 200s came with an rcm exhaust and no air box so i bought a uni air filter for it.
i am having trouble with jetting, where no matter what i do i am fouling plugs
i believe it started with 35 pilot and 98 or 100 main with 3rd groove needle
i had it running pretty well with 40 pilot and 98 main with 3rd groove but the idle was pretty high still..
so i went back to a 38pilot and moved needle to 4th clip

ill be honest i know a little about this carb tuning but clearly not enough and im just using trial and error right now
but im getting a little frustrated with fouling plugs all the time so i wondered if anyone could attempt to help me out. thanks

From my experience, the high idle is a pilot that's too big if the idle adjustment won't work. You probably need to go larger on the main as well. I'm sure someone will say if I' on the wrong track.

Well, first and foremost, did you clean everything well when you had it apart to change jets? If you did that go here for jetting procedure:

My copy of the manual says:

2 1/4 turns out on the pilot screw
100 main jet
3rd groove on the needle
I believe you are close on the pilot, but I'm going from memory. You'll have to go thru the jetting procedure above to figure it out, unless someone here knows what it is and posts the stock pilot size. The manual I have says nothing for a pilot jet, but I believe the earlier 200 engines had a pressed in pilot that wasn't changeable.

Take yer time and be patient, proper jetting pays off. ;)

everything did get a good cleaning...
i ended up going back to 40 and 100 and moving the needle to 4th i think and here is my latest spark plug after a spirited ride

it ran pretty well but still a bog/flutter at max throttle was wondering if it would do this type of thing if the main is too small or should i still be looking to go larger?

ya this plug is very different from what they were looking like before i went back to 40 100 4thclip before they were super black

The only way to find out is to try a larger main and play with the needle clip again. Speculation by us internet geniuses can't confirm what you don't try first. ;)
