Hey, Great Find!
I'm moving your post over to Trikesylvania since it's about a particular 3-wheeler.
Get some pics of that bad boy, we'd love to see it.
And by the way, welcome aboard!

DEFINITELY need to see pics of that one. How complete is it? Does it run? Where did you find it?

Well I thought I would let everyone know about this machine. I bought from one of the guys I used to race with and he bought it from Jerry Lillard, the man who made these trikes. It's one of the last three ever built. The other two are still around but in pieces and blown up. But anyhow, there you go. There is still more to the story but it's too long to type. So if someone is Very bored I will fill the rest in for them. Until then,

thats a pretty cool looking trike I think. A little cleaning, polishing, and paint it'll look good! I bet that seat would bring a pretty penny alone!!
You know, it's really kind of sad what this post is becoming. Lets keep the posts to Cagiva discussion please.
Thank you

I have cleaned up and removed several posts from this topic.
Mike, my sincerest apologies for the lack of respect from some members of this forum. I am embarrassed that it turned out the way it did, I hope you will continue to visit the forum and share your pictures and knowledge.

from the looks of that front fender i would say 85-86 250r maybe???
and look at the size of that disc ,, i bet it will stop quick with that too,,,
I agree KASEY, I think that they chose to use an orange Maier 85/86 ATC250R front and an orange 84/85 Maier low profile rear fender for 84/85 KXT 250.
The rear disc kind of looks like it might be an 85/86 ATC250R front disc!

so i wonder if they actually had a model year? if they used that front fender it had to be built either late 84 or after,,, that 500 tiger that i rode was a 85 model built in early 85,, since they didn't build to many, i wonder how many cagiva's were actually built..

How many years were Cagiva built?
How many models did they build?
What years were they built?
Was the guy who built them named Cagiva?
I wonder how many were built total?

I think they were only built one year,if not two.

I dunno about this stuff, but when racing was big, all MFG's wanted IN. Cagiva is an Italian motorcycle company that was more popular in the states in the 1980's. Wether the company contracted with tricky dicks shop or not I dunno. Why they chose a cagiva, I dunno. There must have been some factory support to the project. ??? Another trike oddity.

The Horsepower was around 38 for the 200. I ran across a 500 Cagiva engine one time that a guy had put in a warrior frame but it was WAY out of control.

Nice bike, very original lookin piece. Looks like you need to move up your tripple clamps on the shock tubes. Keep an eye out for fenders, if not use some Plastic Renew on it after you wash it to make it shine. Have fun with it, you've got a bike that not many others have. :-D

The way I understand from reading the Tiger 500 test on this site there was really no years for Tigers, I suppose if you knew when it was bought you could call it that year, but as soon as they found a way to improve them they would change, they wouldn't wait till the next year. For instance, moving the radiator to infront of the riders leg instead of being fork mounted like a '85 T3.

Chainsaw: I was tryin to answer some of the other questions about Tigers in this thread, and maybe the same thing goes for Cagiva, if they found a better way to make things or decided to change them they went ahead and did it, no waiting for the next year to roll around before the changes went into affect.
The seat almost looks brand new, I also like the orange/green color scheam of the Cag's.

Dang!!!!! I am jealous. My Cagiva is not as cool as his. Oh well, prolly just should be happy I have one, lol. Oh yeah, you guys asked about years, mine was built in late 83, and the fenders are fiberglass.

That's really great guys.
I would love to see more pics of it after you get the dust off.
Does it run?
I remember seeing them in magazines back in the day.
Never saw one in person even back then.
Keep up the good work.

Id sticker (poor quality.) But the type is defined as motorcycle wmx 250. So they must really use the 250 dirtbike motor.

I believe that they sleeved down the 250 motor to 200 CC's very similar to the sleeved down 250R's.

Going off of my questionable menory: Cagiva used the same 200cc motor in their 250cc MX 2 wheeler. Tricky Dicks did not have to sleeve them down.

I need to start a scanning project now that I have a PC with enough memory..

Cagiva's 250 motor was only 192 cc's. They just called it 250 and raced it in 250 class.

I found this on the net from a companyn in India, seems like it was a trend.

BAL has 3 plants located in Maharashtra. The scooters incorporate Piaggio technology as upgraded by BAL’s in-house R&D from time to time. It also developed a fully indigenous model of motor cycles in 1981. Subsequent to the opening up of the sector for foreign technology and equity participation in the mid 80’s, it entered into a technical collaboration agreement with Kawasaki Japan. It started production of Kawasaki 100cc motor cycles in 1986. The company has also entered into technical collaboration with M/s Kabota of Japan for manufacture of diesel engines for its three wheelers and Cagiva of Italy. Well I thought I would let everybody know I took the Cagiva for it's first ride last night and what a monster! I honestly could not shift quick enough to keep up with the motor. Boy I had forgotten how big I could really smile. What a blast!
