Ok, over the past week i've been talking with my dad about going to this older guy in his late 70's who has a garage sale and sells antiques every other weekend as a hobby. He only lives 5 miles away in the next town. I have been going to his yard sale a few times over the past few years because I know he has a 250sx buried way in the back of his garage surrounded by old antiques and stuff but in the past he said he would not sell and that when his grandson turned 18 it was his....Anyways i wake up Sunday morning early and plan on going to a few garage sales this holiday weekend and decide to check this place out first and ask about the honda 250sx one more time...Me my dad and girlfriend drive over to his place and the garage sale sign is out...I walk towards the garage and he says hi and the first thing that caught my eye was a welcome sign just as you walk in the garage door. I grabbed it cause it was hand painted and looked cool. I said how much. He said 5 bucks and I said cool. Gave him 5 dollars to kind of break the ice...I proceed to look to the back of the garage and it was still there covered in a layer of dust. I said you still have the old honda. The older guy says ya my grandson was suppose to take it home but he never came to pick it up...I said if i made you a cash offer today would you sell it. He said sure will but i'll need to at least get 400$ I paused for a second and said how much ? I didnt want to show excitement but just kept looking around and checking it out..It had the tool box with original tools in it. A nice headlight guard, the key, original front tire , no rust in the tank or on the frame...I said i will do 400$ and can i start it...the battery was dead so i kicked it over and on the 4th try it started.. We cleared a path out of the garage and i tried it in the field and went through all the gears...It even had the reverse button on it...Also had no broken plastic and came with the manual plus he was the original owner and bought it locally bran new.. Anyways we loaded it and on the 5 mile drive home i remembered i bought that hand painted Welcome sign that caught my eye as i walked into the garage..I picked it up and looked at the artist name who signed it and i paused for a moment......It was my last name spelled exactly the same...I think it was just a weird or cool coincidence but a great day anyways...

Heres some pictures before and after the cleaning...A bit rough around the edges but shined up we'll with not many scratches on the plastic which was surprising..

And a few from after. I still need to clean it up some on the engine and paint the exhaust and rims.

The tires are in good shape but im going to switch them up to give it a more rugged agressive look. I'm not sure what the back tires are and how old but i'll have to take a closer look at them..Theres not much sand riding in this state so i assume they might be for snow...

Thanks. I'm going to keep the tires as they are in real good shape. That brochure was neat. I got the headlight guard and all the tools in the toolbox. I took the sx all apart today, skid plates, shock, airbox, gas tank and gave it a real cleaning..Drained all fluids and replaced with new. Except for the gas as the petcock started to leak. I have a question for anyone reading this...My gas tank has zero rust inside. Should I just keep it full of fresh gas to keep it rust free or should i get it creamed or coated if it has no rust?

Keep it full of gas and it will never rust. Do not kreem a perfectly good tank. Kreem and red coat should be last resort only.

Putting the sx back together today after the tear down and more detailed cleaning..Must of been a pound of caked on dust and dirt under the tank on top of the frame and engine area..I have a couple questions for anyone who tore these down before...On top of the engine its stamped H 35 in green and i was curious as to what this meant from the factory? Also when i took the skid plates of and cleaned the under side theres was a couple words near the oil changing bolt but could not read the whole thing because the main fram covered some of it...It looked like it said "HALF" Something Also looked like 3 initials on there too but could be wrong. I'll have to check my other sx as i think it has the same markings if i recall..
